Chatting with Andrew Boyd

Andy and Todd (Vance could not make this podcast) talked with Andrew Boyd on the phone. Andrew is a fan of the podcast and resides near Chicago. He reached out to me (Andy) on Facebook, after a few messages we got him on the show for a phone in. After a short introduction he talked about fishing the lakes in his area. Todd had some experience in that area of the country from fishing the PMTT and exchange a few few stories. Andy tells the readers digest version of his biggest fish, that had several chances to shake the hooks. Andrew ask the question about bait color. Is their something more to it, or it does it not really matter. The guys discuss colors for the last half of the podcast. Shad baits and new fishing reels

Andy, Vance and Todd start off by talking about the weekly fishing report. That discussion leads into a talk about trolling and shad style baits. Todd talks about the Wiley Fatbody bait that he has named the "Dog Bone". Andy changes gears to talk about the new Diawa Lexa HD 400. He had a chance to use one, and how he got the new Lexa is a interesting chain of events. Andy gives his opinion of the reel, and the several reels that are new to the market. Thanks for listening.

Fishing, New boats, Big Fish

Andy, Vance and Todd start off the podcast with the usual fishing report from Todd. The report turns into a conversation on local water conditions and how they are changing, fly fishing for musky and the challenges anglers face who fly fish for musky. The guys change gears to talk about Vance's new boat. Vance talks about some of the final details of his boat, overlooked items of buying a boat people should know. Andy brings up the big fish photo that has been circling the internet the past week or so. The conversation leads to fish photos, bad photos, how a photo can ruin your day (or fishing spot), photos and how times have changed. We end the show on a question Andy asked Vance to ask Todd prior to the show starting. "If you had to catch a musky but only could make 50 casts, where would you go?". We had our first guest on the podcast. Tony Grant phoned in to talk musky. We chatted about the recent PMTT at Vermillion, PMTT of the past, some history with Todd, Cave Run lake and what is going on with it, trolling in WI, size limits and history... Last weeks fishing stories

Last weeks podcast Andy, Vance, and Todd said that they all would fish together and report of the trips the following week. Getting hooked (literally), and getting others hooked.

Andy, Vance and Todd start the pod cast off with Todd's fishing report. That fishing report somehow turned into a exchange of stories of being hooked (like the hooks are into your body) while fishing. Andy then talks about the small seminar he spoke at in a local bait shop this past Sunday. At the seminar he meet and talked to a few novice musky anglers. How we got here

This podcast Andy, Vance, and Todd talk about the beginnings of Fat A.Z. Musky Products. This podcast was made to shed light on the story of Fat A.Z.. Andy discusses the the first bait he made to start Fat A.Z. . The issues he met with starting a bait business, the process he used to make baits. The podcast then goes into how Andy and Todd became partners in Fat A.Z.. Then continues to how Vance got involved, ultimately leading to our low budget podcast.

Our Boats

It's been almost two weeks since the last podcast,this was due to Vance being on vacation. We will make it up with two podcasts this week. Andy, Vance, and Todd start off talking about the new sponsor Muddy Creek Fishing Guides. Todd is the owner and operator Muddy Creek Fishing Guides. It only seems right he gets a little information out there since he is 1/3 of the podcast, not sure why we did not do that earlier. Todd gives an update of the past week of guide trips,what has been working, changes he has been seeing... A nice update of his fishing. Then the guys talk about their personal musky boat history. Each one of them have a different style of boat and a different history of how they came to where they are at now. Vance opens up on the pitfalls he faced when trying to buy his boat and what he is facing now with buying a new rig right now. Most people have horror stories of bad dealerships, this is another one of those that seem to be common with boat dealers. Oh and we did lose Todd for a few minutes from a dropped call. Andy's rant

After a shaky first podcast Andy, Vance and Todd are starting to get their broadcasting sea-legs. Andy starts the pod cast with a rant. It stemmed from a phone call from another guide who was not a musky fisherman. The guide was taking jabs at muskies and fishing for them. This brought on a conversation on the topic of being an elitist and the mystique of musky and musky fishing. Like Fat A.Z. Musky Products on face book. Please invite your friends to do so as well.
